This feels extra good today. Truisms. Lately it's felt like so much is worthless, I'm this angry, jaded version of me.
"Well if you're in from the start
Then we're in this together
If you're not then I'll have to
Take on this world
Cause this world can't take on me
I won't let go
I feel so lost without it
Crawl down my throat
I just can't think about it now
If it's your turn to live
Then it's my turn to give it up
And if you drop the bomb
Then I'll pick it up
I'm afraid to be
(I'd stick it out by my heart can't hack it)
Just an example of inconsistency
I feel like I'm jaded
I've given it all I have to give
Burnt out, frustrated
I feel like I'm an enemy of the world"

3/1/10
No waiting necessary -- FYS album leaked, yay!!! Prettttty fucking catchy too, if the first track is any indicator.
UPDATE: Albeit this isn't the energy cool-down I probably should be attempting at this hour, this album's pretty good. I'm listening to it for the second time through, and while it sounds like more FYS, that's a really good thing! It's like they took all the best parts of "Rise or Die Trying" and just kept going with those elements, and it totally works. The harmonies are great and the lyrics are direct and pointed and harsh and heartfelt all at once.
The chorus of "Wasting Time," which I imagine is the first single, kicks in at the perfect time and you're begging it back to come again, and then it does in all kinds of ways. Good. Just the right kind of screaming, I think, and I really like the way they seem to pull it all together at the end of each song so well. A lot of the choruses are catchy and hook-filled and just sort of force you to nod your head to it. Lyrically, melodically, they have this way of putting a bridge into a chorus and just making things flow really well from one part to the next. Lines soar from one to the next, hit hard at the end, like it's nicely punctuated. Like it. ie:
One step at a time/One foot in front of the other/I'm gonna get through this one way or another
Cause I know it's warmer where you are/Cause no matter how far the view/I still always look up to you
I love how fun this album feels for feeling so aggressive. Great combination, but hard to do right, I think.
This would be a great way to kick off the day at 8 a.m., if my iPod was still working. =(

Love my name
Love left dry
Frost or flame
Skeleton me
Fall asleep
Spin the sky
Skeleton me
Love, don’t cry
Love, don’t cry
Love, don’t cry
Skeleton me
Skeleton me
Soon comes rain
Dry your eyes
Frost or flame
Skeleton me
Fall asleep
Spin the sky
Skeleton me
Love, don’t cry
Love, don’t cry
Love, don’t cry
Skeleton me
Skeleton me
Skeleton me

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz!
Beautiful song.....some great tones in there, simple and pretty words. I don't think there's any Yeah Yeah Yeahs I don't like, but some songs stand out more to me than others. This is one of them. Also, the video is sick-nasty but I can't find an embed code....see The New York Times for a take on that.
In other news, I'm very sad to say I don't think I'll get to make it to any of the Copeland farewell tour dates. Too much homework, and things to do, blah. But that's a band that, I think, might deserve a reunion someday, if I have to organize and pay for it myself. I can't believe I'll never hear You Are My Sunshine songs live! Sad. Goodbye, favorite band, you will still be one of them.
Still other news, new release from Four Year Strong soon......excellent. Get ready feel like throwing things into walls and smashing electronics on the ground, and all kinds of good stuff, with a snide-ass fucking grin. They can take a minute to warm up to (if you're not crazy about melodic hardcore or whatever you'd like to call it) but the dueling vocals and harmonies are pretty freakin intense, they're so straight up about what they do. New songs here.

Four Year Strong is awesome, and so are the good ole hits of the 90s. Although honestly, new material > cover albums...whatever, they're so loud and harmony-heavy and fantastic that I'm sure it'll be fun.
